Voor de gewasverzorging moeten maatregelen worden genomen, die er voor zorgen dat het gewas gezond blijft. In de basis gaat het om preventieve maatregelen die altijd worden uitgevoerd. Daarnaast is de monitoring van de gewassen erg belangrijk. Elke week wordt er gecontroleerd of er problemen opspelen in de gewassen. Aan hand van deze monitoring worden de maatregelen en werkzaamheden bepaalt die plaats moeten vinden om het gewas gezond te houden.

Spuiten is belangrijk voor de verzorging van het gewas. Hiermee kan Maatschap Joling de aardbeienplanten beschermen tegen schimmels, onkruid, bacteriën & insecten. Bij het spuiten is het kiezen van je moment en de interval het belangrijkst voor het optimaliseren van het resultaat. Factoren als wind, regen en temperatuur zijn belangrijk bij het kiezen van het juiste spuitmoment en kunnen hierdoor variëren. De middelen die gebruikt worden in de gewasbescherming zijn uitvoerig getest voor de veiligheid van de toepasser en zijn als niet schadelijk bewezen. Doordat de gebruiker het meest in aanraking komt met de middelen is vast gesteld dat het veilig is voor omstanders.

De aardbeien die Maatschap Joling teelt worden allemaal op contract geteeld voor Flevoplant te Ens. Maatschap Joling is begonnen met het telen van 5 Ha aardbeien in 2007. Inmiddels word er 40 hectare aardbeien geteeld. De aardbeien worden geteeld voor de vermeerdering van aardbeienplanten en worden verkocht aan bedrijven die aardbeien telen voor consumptie.
